Today the winds were out of the northeast at around 10-15 knots. Water temp was a cool 62°.
Water clarity was excellent and the fish were biting. We kept 43 speckled sea trout and 5 redfish. All fish today were caught on gulp shrimp and live shimp under popping corks.

Capt. Rick had an 8 hour charter for Miss Judy Charters. Today we had 3 of the same anglers that fished yesterday in the storms. It was cloudy much of today with stiff winds that were out of the West/Southwest. It seems like a low pressure pushed in over the night. However the winds were 10- 15 increasing to 20 late in the day. We fished all different drops due to tides and wind. Water clarity was not as good, but we still kept 12 Redfish and 6 trout and released 6 reds and 5 trout. Water temperature was 67° as it was yesterday.

Capt. Rick had an 8 hour charter for Miss Judy Charters. Today winds were a steady 25 knots out of the East/Northeast and Raining - from showers to downpours. Water temp was 67° at most locations. We fished all the outgoing and a couple of hours of incoming. When we found clear water we caught fish.

I have a pair of FROGG TOGS and guess what ? They are not waterproof. After a few hours of hard rain I was soaked to the skin. We kept a few nice trout - largerst was 21.5 inches and a shade over 4lbs. Also released a few reds, but kept a 10.3 lb black drum. Both of these fish were caught using a black inticer float from midcoast products.

Capt. Rick had a charter for Miss Judy Charters. Today winds were gusting to 25 knots out of the North/Northwest. Started early and the water temp is 71° and falling. Air temp was in the mid 50's this morning and got into the upper 60's by the end of the day. We fished the 1st four hours of the incomming tide out of the wind and kept 4 redfish, 2 trout and 1 flounder. Tossed back 6 trout and a few redfish, as they only wanted to keep enough for a meal. All fish caught on live shrimp, from Adams Bait.

Capt. Jeremy had a charter for Miss Judy Charters. Today winds were light and variable but wet. Air temp started in mid 70's and dropped during the day to the mid 60's. Wind picked up to 15 +Knots out of the North/Northeast. This was an 8 hour trip and most of it was in wind and rain. Final tally was 6 keeper Redfish, 6 keeper Trout and 2 Black Drum. Didn't bother with the camera in the rain. All fish caught on live shrimp, from Adams Bait.

Capt. Rick had a charter for Miss Judy Charters. Today winds were light and variable out of the west. Due to the fact that we are on the Cusp of a full moon, tides and currents were significantly higher and faster. I had 3 excellent anglers and we spent the day looking for clear water, but never really found it. Water temp was 74 and the air temp had to be at least 80. Swifter than normal and heavily stained water clarity led to a disappointing trip. We boated and released about 6 Blue fish and 2 nice bonnethead sharks.

Whenever you have an exceptional day on the water as we have been having lately, don't take it for granted that all trips will be that way, but do enjoy it fully as the next time out might be different! You have to factor in the amount of rain + full moon + extrodinary tides and dirty water, all came together on the fishes side today.

Below is a picture of one of the anglers fighting a nice bonnethead on light tackle.

Capt. Rick had a charter for Miss Judy Charters. Today winds were 25 knots out of the east / north east increasing as the day wore on. Fishing was tuff, but we were able to keep 9 Redfish, 2 black drum and a flounder. We had 2 charters canceled due to bad weather this weekend , one on the 11th and 12th. We were able to squeeze this one in after the front finally moved offshore. With all the fresh water in the system, keeping shrimp alive turned out to be very difficult. We lost 3 quarts last night and about 1 quart today of fresh. Could not locate any clean water so the trout bite was not happening so we concentrated on redfish and flounder drops.

10/06/2008

Capt. Jeremy had a charter for Miss Judy Charters. Today winds were 4-5 knots out of the north east increasing as the day wore on. They had an excellent catch of trout, redfish, flounder and sheepshead, all on live shrimp fished under a traditional float. Water temp was in the low 70's with the air temp reaching the 80's. All fish caught with live shrimp that Capt. Jeremy castnetted.

Capt. Rick had a charter for Miss Judy Charters. Today winds were 4-5 knots out of the east increasing to 15 to 20. The wind and tide were not instep with todays trip, so finding clear water got to be a challenge . All fish today were caught on the Inticer in 4 foot of water or less with live shrimp from ADAMS Baithouse. Water temp was low 70's. We lost a couple real nice trout at the boat, due to reeling to far, thus leaving the fish just out of the Captains reach with the net. Still managed a few quality trout and 1 redfish that was 23 inches on the button.

Capt. Rick had a charter for Miss Judy Charters. Today winds were 4-5 knots out of the South West . The wind and tide were instep with todays trip, so we were able to find clear water. All fish today were caught on the Inticer in 4 foot of water or less with live shrimp from ADAMS Baithouse. Water temp was 71° , down from 80° of last Saturday.

We had non stop action and kept 2 nice trout , to 18 inches, 1 sheepshead, 6 Redfish, 1 bluefish and 1 whiting. We released quite a few smaller reds and were broke off by either a large red or shark. Also practice catch and release with some small Ladyfish. We did have to fish thru some pin fish and croakers.

9/21/2008

Capt. Jeremy had a charter for Miss Judy Charters. Today winds were 15-20 knots out of the North East with the tide and current alot higher and faster due to astronomical conditions that has been with us for a few days. Water temp was 80° and the air temp started in the low to mid 70's. They kept 6 trout, 2 reds and a black drum. However one of his party dropped a trout at the dock.

Capt. Jeremy moved around alot but still managed to help his group get a few keeper fish. All fish today were caught on live shrimp from ADAMS bait house in Thunderbolt.

Capt. Rick had a charter for Miss Judy Charters. Today winds were 15- 20 out of the north. As Capt. Jeremy reported the tides were extreme today like yesterday. We had a 9.2 foot high tide at the Savannah Sheritan today. We decided to fish in close and we worked over the Wilmington river pretty good.

We caught plenty of keeper trout, a lot of bluefish and some ladyfish as well. One of the guys lost a huge trout at the boat as well as a 3 foot Gar, that I broke off at the boat. We were able to find clean water in most places. Water temp was 78° in Turner Creek and the Wilmington River, but it went as high as 80° on some of the Mud flats that we fished.

All fish were caught on live shrimp and the INTICER POPPING CORK from midcoast. I have info and a link to their site on my homepage. This cork outfished the inshore extreme and the traditional float. 1/2 thru the charter, the person using the other type of floats asked to be switched to the Inticer!

Capt. Jeremy had a charter for Miss Judy Charters. Today winds were 15-25 knots out of the North East with the tide and current alot higher and faster due to astronomical conditions that will be with us for the next few days. Water temp was 80° and the air temp was much cooler starting the day. Capt. Jeremy did not take any pictures but they caught a variety of keeper redfish, speckled seatrout and plenty of ladyfish and bluefish. All fish were caught on live shrimp courtesy of Capt. Ray Crawley of Miss Judy Charters. Despite the conditions, they fished the salt pond area of Wassaw Sound.

Capt. Rick had a charter for Miss Judy Charters. Today winds were light and variable with the tide and current somewhat higher and faster due to the influence of the Full moon. We had to wade thru quite a bit of pinfish and needlefish but had plenty of action.

Caught and released several bonnethead sharks, bluefish, and redfish. Also kept a few speckled seatrout, a nice bluefish and some black drum. They also kept 1 bonnethead shark as well. Water temp is still in the low 80's, but water clarity was excellent. Also caught and released some oversized redfish as well.

9/07/2008

Capt. Rick had a charter for Miss Judy Charters. Today was the first day in September that either I or Capt. Jeremy has run a charter due to 3 hurricanes back to back with each one coming so close to Thunderbolt/Savannah, Ga, we were not able to get out.

Tropical Storm "Hanna" passed close to Savannah around midnight on Sept 5th. The passage of this storm cooled the water temp from around 85° to low 80's. Suprising the water was quite clear.

We caught several redfish, speckled seatrout, bluefish, ladyfish and flounder. We also had a chance to witness about 40 yrds across of finger mullet bust the water and rapidly move in our direction, continueing to jump out of the water.

These mullet were swimming for their lives and one of my guys pitched a mullet in front of these oncoming fish. These mullet jumped out of the water about 30 yrds from us and continued to jump as they approached our boat. They were being chased and eaten by some large football shaped giants. These large fish passed right under the boat by the 100's. My guy was hooked up for a few minutes before being broken off by a very nice Jack Crevall. We saw these waves of fish pass us 3 times before we left the salt pond area.

Even though the air temp hit the lower 90's today, I believe we are on the verge of getting into our Autumn fishing pattern. Schools of these large Jacks are on the move and we saw quite a few monarch butterflys today. Providing we don't get a direct hit from a Hurricane, we should have an outstanding fall fishery.
