Capt. Rick had a 3 person 4 hour charter today for Miss Judy. I was at the bait store at 5:15 am to pickup bait, even though these guys wanted to leave at 10, which we did. Troy was heading back to the middle east next week, so his friends Pete and Bubba wanted to go fishing. We started the day catching a few redfish, 1 slot and 1 over slot at 26 inches. Water was warm at 89°At most spots. Water was clear and the tides were gentle considering the full moon setting and the sun rising at the same time.

After some redfish, we stayed out in Wassaw sound and concentrated on sharks, where we caugt a small blacktip and a small bonnet head, followed by a 32 inch bonnet head and a couple of sea trout. This was a very enjoyable trip, but Pete was unable to catch today.

I hope these guys had as much fun as I did and Troy, the one in the Green Shirt, stay safe over there.

Capt. Rick had a 2 person 5 hour charter today for Miss Judy. We departed the dock at 6:30 am and the water temp was 87°. The air temp got up into the upper 80's while we were on the water. We had to fish the last 3 hours of the outgoing and the first hour of the incoming. Out in Wassaw sound we caught and released about 8 small redfish during the falling tide. When the tide changed we tried an incoming trout drop and caught and released 8 or 9 keeper trout. This was a welcomed surprise since most predictions have eluded to a massive trout kill this winter. However these were slot trout and possible have just arrived about 2 months late. Below is Joe holding a 15 inch trout caught on a live head hooked brown shrimp.

Capt. Jeremy had a 2 person 4 hour charter today for Miss Judy. They hit the day late, about 2pm for 4 hours. Missed the tidal stage at one of the drops and only got a few reds there. While out in the sound, they did catch and release some sharks and blue fish.

Capt. Rick had a 3 person 6 hour charter today for Miss Judy. This was a good trip despite the intense heat. I started the day early (5am) by catching some pogies to go with some live shrimp I got from Adams Bait house. Picked up the group from Indiana at 8am and we headed to Wassaw Sound.

Water temp was 85- 86, but very clear despite coming off a new moon. Started the day catching some ladyfish and small blacktip sharks. Moved around the sound and had a very nice redfish break off, due to some faulty power pro. I had two reels filled with 20lb and it would not hold up. Took care of that when I got back in. This redfish was a fat 30 inch red and broke off just out of reach of the net. Also lost a nice bonnet head at the net ( broke off).

We moved around qute a bit and finally got a redfish bite going. We netted 2 that were 26 and 28 inches and kept 3 slot reds and 1 flounder for a meal. Released everything else including a short speckled sea trout. All in all a good day on the water, and just got brushed by a lightning storm on the way in. We were plenty of distance away, but it was moving in the direction we were going. You can tell by the sunrise, this was going to be a hot day.

Capt. Jeremy had a 3 person 5 hour charter today for Miss Judy. The water clarity was good and the wind was light and variable. They went to Wassaw sound to catch a few sharks and some redfish. They kept a few reds, and a black drum and released everything else. Capt. Jeremy took a minute during the action to snap a picture of one of the oversized reds that they caught and released.

They had a great day on the water. Capt. Jeremy suggests catching and using any available natural bait. Besides a few live shrimp, Capt. Jeremy caught a cast net full of small pogies that the reds exploded on. ( tip of the day)

Capt. Rick had a 2 person 4 hour charter today for Miss Judy. We left the dock at low tide, 10 am. Had the last live shrimp from Adams. Water was clear and the water temp was 82 degrees. Later in the day, the wind picked up out of the West and muddied up the water somewhat. We caught 2 bonnet head sharks, 3 speckled trout, 3 bluefish, 1 ladyfish and a couple redfish. The speckled trout are starting to show up now in few numbers.
